family family family

it's amazing how this summer has progressed.

i am home at my dad's house in maryland but just for a week while my aunt and cousins are at the beach in north carolina. a lot has been going on.
last week my cousins and i went to kings dominion again.
we set up their pool in the back yard and made many trips to cool off from the heat to caribou coffee (my new favorite coffee place!).

i worked my first reggae festival this past weekend. i work at the linganore winery running the cash register, pouring wine for tastings, and fielding questions. upwards of 9,000 people showed up on saturday and just a little less on sunday. i love my job and i recommend visiting this hidden frederick county gem.

i got to spend my monday resting up from the crazy weekend and then drove to germantown to visit my cousin christie. we had a nice afternoon eating sandwiches under a vine covered trellis. i love talking to her about relationships; she always has great advice from her experiences and i really value her as someone i can really talk to. then christie, her boyfriend tim, and i met up with kristina to see the DARK NIGHT.

so amazing.
heath ledger was eerily perfect for the role.

after the movie we got to talk some more...then her mom called (my aunt nadine, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer). she started chemotherapy last a few weeks and it is getting harder. to see christie talking to her on the phone was hard. apparently the hospital she has been going to in morgantown, wv is not treating her they way they should be (ignoring her, having her wait hours on end, seperating her from her husband) and, as anyone would do, she brokedown. i wish i could have been there and i wish i could make it all go away. she has so many people who love her that are surrounding her with love and prayers. it's not easy, but it helps to know God is in control.

tomorrow adrienne is driving here from the eastern shore and my grandparents are driving down from pittsburgh. maybe i will see sofie? i am very excited to see my sisters. and our beach trip to holden in north carolina is coming up in just two weeks! wahoooo!
